Montreal Public Markets are a gem in the city of Montreal, giving the habitants access to farm grown produce.

MISSION

EXPLORATION

Design the packaging for an organic seed line to be sold at the Montreal Public Markets.

Although nature is seen as organic, there is a geometry and an equation to it, especially when it comes to growing produce. With this idea in mind, I explored different ways to portray gardening through sketches and research of printing methods. I also jumped down a rabbit hole at this point to create a packaging that would be effective and produce the least waste.

APPROACH

OUTCOME

The seed packaging needed to be a complete contrast from the usual seed packages found in stores. Keeping in line with a young adult target audience, the design has to be playful through visuals, color, and texture. Visually, the design had to portray a mix of organic and geometric.

The final package for the seed line is a card made from kraft paper (think perfume sample, but organic). The visuals consist of a stylized representation of seeds that has been embossed, surrounding the vegetable/fruit. On the inside of the card, the client can find visual instructions of the ‘how-to’, as well as the seeds packed in a rice paper ‘tea’ bag.
