Dawson College

Dawson College has many different programs offered to students, including Graphic Design. Each of these programs have their own program book with course descriptions and teachers’ bios.

MISSION

EXPLORATION

Redesign Dawson’s brochure for the Graphic Design Department in a personal approach that expresses my experience in the program.

The initial phase was extensive with research, concept exploration, mind maps and sketches, storyboards, and a variety of typography.

APPROACH

The brochure needed to be exciting and jam packed with various visual elements to signify the time that I’ve had in the last 3 years. With these descriptions, I was inspired by comic books and the visuals found in them: thoughts, speech, action, etc.

OUTCOME

The brochure brings a fun twist to a school program with a mixture of minimal and dynamic layouts. The focus is mostly on typography with different sizes and layouts.

The majority of the book is in black and white since it was mostly inspired by the action and speech illustrations in comics. However, every so often there are elements in one of the three primary colours.
